Christchurch police are trying to locate the driver of a vehicle found with concerning contents.

A police spokesperson told Chris Lynch Media, officers spotted a vehicle of interest on Anzac Drive just after 12:30 AM on Tuesday.

The vehicle was not pursued, but police kept it under observation as it turned into a driveway, where the driver fled.

It’s understood the vehicle pulled into a property on Bower Avenue.

A search of the vehicle revealed an imitation firearm, other weapons, and tactical gear the police spokesperson said.

A bulletproof vest was also among the items found.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.
