All funds raised through public voting will go towards mental health and dog-related charities across New Zealand.

The competition, now in its ninth year, is organised by Frog Recruitment in collaboration with sponsors Simparica Trio and Jetpark Hotels.

Koozer, the finalist, has become a cherished member of the Airpark Canterbury team, offering support and comfort to the staff.

His owner, Graeme Harris, said, “The first thing the staff ask is, ‘Where’s Koozer?’ He attends all the meetings, and when staff feel stressed or anxious, they cuddle and kiss him.

“His love is unconditional and non-judgmental. He has this unique ability to draw staff into his presence, creating a deep connection that lifts them away from their current stresses and brings them into a place of calm.”

Koozer is a regular presence in the office, attending every day without ever taking a sick day. On his days off, he continues to help out on the farm, often acting as Harris’s “back seat driver” on the quad bike.

Harris refers to Koozer as his “mental health support dog” and credits him with helping him through many stressful times.

“He is always present when we hire new staff and lets me know if they are dog-friendly, which is the number one requirement,” Harris said.

“If meetings go too long and he goes to his bed for a nap, I know it’s time to wrap up the meeting.

Koozer and I have never spent a minute apart. He is not just a dog; he is my mental health support, teammate, HR & Recruitment Specialist, Ops Manager, and best friend.”

After five weeks of searching across New Zealand and nearly 400 entries, the competition is now in its final stages
