The Christchurch Hip Hop Summit, presented by Youth Cultural Development (YCD) and Flare, is underway at Tūranga Library.

The fourth annual event promises a wide range of free activities for all ages, including workshops, showcases, and performances, celebrating the vibrant culture of hip hop.

Organisers say they have gathered some of the best music and urban culture artists from around New Zealand, offering workshops in DJing, MCing, urban dance, graffiti art, and more. The entire event is free for participants, regardless of age or skill level.

Throughout the week, attendees can expect a variety of sessions, including DJ workshops, breaking workshops, and the NZ Beatbox Championships on Friday, 4th October.

The lineup also includes the Pacific Music Awards Talanoa, Xtreme Hip Hop sessions, and much more.

The full program includes highlights like:

Breaking workshops with BBoy Indo and BBoy Leerok

Krump workshops with Trials and Yak

NZ Beatbox Championships at Tūranga Library

Common Ground Invitational Battles on Saturday, 5th October

Pacific Music Awards Talanoa and listening parties

The summit wraps up on Sunday, 6th October, at the Dance O Mat with the FSA Production Day 2, bringing a close to what promises to be a week filled with energy, creativity, and community spirit.

All events will be held at the TSB Arena, Level 1, at Tūranga Library, and are free and open to everyone.
