Christchurch Boys High school students who filmed themselves attacking a man and forcing him to eat pet food outside McDonald’s Riccarton are no longer enrolled at the school.

The man was attacked by a vigilante students who believed he was a paedophile trying to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex.

Through his executive assistant, Christchurch Boys’ High School Principal Nic Hill confirmed four students were no longer at the school.

“The students involved were from various year levels. This was not an act of vigilante justice,” Hill said. “There was no moral conviction in what they did. Some individuals on the internet are merely seeking attention.”

“They are deliberately following a social media trend, and that’s not vigilante justice. There is no moral justification. The sole motivation is to seek the limelight.”

We don’t discuss individual discipline matters, however, given the profile of this case we will confirm that some boys are no longer enrolled at Christchurch Boys’ High School.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Simmons told chrislynchmedia.com on Thursday that while police inquiries are still ongoing, no charges have been laid, and the victim was receiving support.
