A brutal road rage incident has been caught on camera in Christchurch during rush hour traffic. 

Video sent to Chris Lynch Media shows a man repeatedly punching a driver on Blenheim Road near Deans Ave.

The driver then gets out of his vehicle and signals for the fight to continue. 

The truck driver who captured the footage said the incident happened at 8AM on Monday and lasted for about 90 seconds.

A police spokeswoman confirmed they received a report of a person punching another person in the face.

A man went to hospital to be assessed.

 Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident, the police spokeswoman said.
