A 16-year-old has been arrested in relation to a serious assault at the Richmond Village Green on Stanmore Road earlier this month.
Detective Sergeant James Haigh of Canterbury CIB said the male youth was taken into custody today and is facing multiple charges.
He is due to appear in the Christchurch Youth Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault in relation to a second victim.
He has also been charged with theft in connection to a separate offence in the same area on 2 February.
Haigh said police appreciated the assistance from the community, which helped lead to the arrest.
