Christchurch resident Sarah Wadsworth, age 9, has once again claimed the title of world champion after winning the under-10 division at the Junior Disc Golf World Championships in Tulsa Oklahoma.
Wadsworth already holds two world titles for disc golf distance throwing.
Disc golf is a sport where players throw a flying disc towards a target, typically a metal basket, aiming to complete each hole in the fewest throws possible, similar to traditional golf.

as she is, and each day she had to overcome so much to finally breathe a little in the final.
“She faced an island hole, with the basket literally on an island surrounded by water. Sarah teed off straight onto the island and then popped it into the basket for a birdie.

“This year was supposed to be just about the experience as she has another year in this division.”
Sarah flew to the US with her father, Paul Wadsworth, the well-known owner of the Halswell Quarry Coffee Cart, who fundraised to get them to the championships.
“Despite the challenges, Sarah ended up winning the tournament by 18 shots. While it sounds like a significant lead, it doesn’t fully capture how hard she worked to achieve it” her mum said.
