The latest 1News Verian poll, released tonight, shows National and ACT have enough seats to form the next Government.

National leader Christopher Luxon also managed to gain ground in the preferred prime minister stakes, rising to 20%, up two points from May.

Labour leader Chris Hipkins was on 24%, down one point.

Act Party leader David Seymour was steady on seven per cent.

In party vote support, National was on 35%, down two points, and Labour on 33%, also down two points.

The ACT party attracted 12% of the party vote in the poll – up one point – the Greens bouncing back three points to 10% and the Māori and New Zealand First were on 3%.

In this latest poll, National would get 46 Mps – add to that 15 From Act and that’s 61 – the exact number needed to form a government.

Labour’s 43 seats, plus 12 from the Greens and four from the Maori Party is 59 – not enough for them to be in the driving seat.
