Police have confirmed one person has died in a crash in Selwyn this morning. 

A truck and motorbike collided on the Rakaia River Bridge at 9.45am.

The driver of the motorbike has died.

A police spokesperson said road is closed while the Serious Crash Unit examine the scene.

Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. 

NTZA said “SH1 Rakaia remains CLOSED and contractors are still on-site clearing the debris. Please continue to use detour and drive with care.”
