A Christchurch jewellers is one of two stores ram raided in the city overnight.

A police spokesman told Chris Lynch at about about 4.30am, officers were called to Colombo Street after a report of a vehicle having been used to enter a store.

The store was Westende Jewellers.

The offenders did not gain entry, however then broke into to a second store and took items, before leaving the scene in a second vehicle.

Then at 4.55am, Police were called to Radcliffe Road, Belfast, after a vehicle was used to enter a store and items were taken.

The offenders left in a second vehicle.

Police continue to make enquiries into both of these burglaries, including investigating whether the incidents are linked.
