A man has been charged following an assault outside a concert in North New Brighton, which has left a person in serious condition at Christchurch Hospital.
It’s understood two people were assaulted, with one receiving serious injuries from stab wounds.
Police received a report of an assault at Queen Elizabeth Park, New Brighton at about 9pm last night.
A concertgoer told Chris Lynch Media he had been to watch Belgian musician Netsky perform, along with thousands who attended the concert which went through the night.
He said after leaving to go to home, police told him his car would be locked in the car park due to it being a crime scene.
The man said people in the crowd overheard there had been a stabbing mid concert.
A Police spokesperson told Chris Lynch Media a 25-year-old man has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
St John was notified of an incident in North New Brighton and responded with one ambulance, two managers and a rapid response unit to the scene.
A spokesperson says they assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
The man is expected to appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow.
