A body has been recovered in the water near Ōhau B Canal Bridge on State Highway 8, where a car crashed this morning.

While formal identification is yet to be completed, the deceased person is believed to be associated with the car that was located in the water earlier.

A search had been underway since the car plunged off a bridge south of Twizel this morning

Police National Dive Squad searched a car.

In a statement, police thanked motorists for their patience, and “everyone who assisted with the search effort today.”
