A horse has been killed and another has been put down following a serious crash in North Canterbury.
A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch Media emergency services were notified of a collision involving a vehicle and two horses on Upper Sefton Road at 9pm.
One person has serious injuries and another has minor injuries.
Fire and Emergency crews were required to extricate a person from the vehicle
One horse died and the other has been put down the spokeswoman said.
There are blockages at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
