Police have arrested a 43-year-old man following a crash on Linwood Avenue yesterday afternoon, where the vehicle left the scene.
Emergency services responded to the crash where a cyclist was critically injured just before 4pm.
An eyewitness told Chris Lynch her and partner were waiting at the traffic lights just by the Big daddy’s bottle.
“We heard a massive horrible sound, then a silver Subaru came speeding past me and turned left at the lights .
There were car parts flying everywhere! As I looked out my window, I saw the guy on the floor next to my door in an awful state .
I jumped out of the car. He had a pulse but was in such a state.”
The driver of the offending vehicle is due to appear in Christchurch District Court today on charges of failing to stop without ascertaining injury, dangerous driving causing injury and driving while disqualified 3rd or subsequent time.
