Fire crews have been called to a large house fire in Richmond, Christchurch.

Fire and Emergency crews received a call to the blaze on Vogel Street just at about 3.40PM.

By the time they arrived, the house was well ablaze at the back of the property.

Chris Lynch Media understands the house is unoccupied and the owner is living at another address.

Three Fire and Emergency crews are at the house fire.

The dead-end street has been blocked off by crews.

An Orion electrician is also at the scene.

Police have been called to the blaze.
