The trial of a fourth person connected to the Mama Hooch drug spiking case is underway in Christchurch today.
The person is facing a single charge of sexual violation.
It follows the conclusion of the first trial, where three men were accused of drugging and sexually assaulting 12 women.
The three men were known to target their victims by spiking their drinks, often slipping substances into them.
The men were in a WhatsApp group that shared thousands of disturbing messages, including videos of their crimes.
Two of the men were found guilty of multiple charges of sexual assault, while the third was acquitted of the charge of stupefying and rape, but was found guilty of a minor charge of supplying a Class B drug.
The fourth man, who has been granted name suppression, entered a not guilty plea to the single charge of sexual violation brought against him.
His trial is currently underway in the Christchurch District Court, with the prosecution presenting evidence to support their case against the accused.
