A Christchurch man remains in hospital in an induced coma after being attacked in central Christchurch early Sunday morning.
Wynton King was seriously assaulted as he was walking towards the Rockpool bar on Hereford Street.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent to Injure.
He faces a separate charge of Injuring with Intent to Injure, in relation to the alleged assault of another victim during the same disorder incident.
The man is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.
Wynton’s sister Amber Sowman said “though he doesn’t know it yet, his life has been altered beyond repair and we want to make sure we, his immediate family, can be there every step of the way to support him on this journey.
Sowman said “we his family, are extremely grateful for the outpouring of love his many friends are sending our way. We are learning just how truly loved our Winnie is.”
A Give a Little page has been set up to help Wynton’s recovery.
These funds will be used to support us, to support Wynton. Assisting with our travel, accommodation and food while we embark this unknown with him.”
Over 200 people had donated to the page as of 9pm Wednesday.
