A Christchurch community is coming together to support Bronwyn Harris, a cherished local equestrian and business owner, who has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer.
Harris, known for her work in the equestrian community and her business, Pony Parties, has been a beacon of joy for children and families, providing magical experiences on her farm in Motukarara.
She shared her passion for her work on her website emphasising the joy of bringing together children and animals.

“I absolutely love seeing children and their families’ faces light up while enjoying the magical interaction between animals and their loved ones.”
However, due to her diagnosis, Harris has decided to put her beloved business up for sale.
Close friend, Sarah Crozier, shared insights with Chris Lynch Media about Harris’s journey.

“Almost 3 months ago, I caught up with Bronwyn for lunch when she told me about her diagnosis.
There was a treatment plan in place and she was all over it.”
Despite an initial optimistic prognosis, Harris’s condition rapidly worsened.
Crozier detailed the progression of her illness, noting the aggressive nature of the cancer and the subsequent start of chemotherapy.
Harris, a mother of two daughters aged 18 and 19, has been an active and loving presence in their lives.

Beyond her family and business, she has also contributed to her community as a director consultant for BNI, supporting other local business owners.
Now, in the face of her diagnosis, Harris’s extensive network, built through years of community engagement and service, is rallying to support her and her family.
Efforts are underway to create lasting memories for her family and establish a fund to support her daughters through significant life moments in her absence.

Crozier’s message is a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
“We want this to be a reminder to everyone to enjoy the everyday and to create space to make memories regardless of the time we have ahead of us,” she said.
As the community bands together, a fundraising page and auction have been set up, aiming to provide the Harris family with the means to make the most of the time they have left together.
