ANZ says it has now resolved technical issues preventing customers from using bank cards.

Customers across New Zealand were unable to access funds tonight for just over an hour.

Many took to social media to voice their frustrations.

“This would explain why my Google Pay is saying my account is closed.”

However, one online user said “to the lovely lady that just shouted my ice creams at BP just now, after I got to the counter and was told that ANZ banking is down so unable to use ANZ cards in ATM’s or for purchases… thank you!”

The bank made a short statement just after 8pm saying “ a heads up that customers are experiencing issues with their VISA/Debit cards Rest assured our awesome Techies are on the case and are working ultra hard to get this error resolved.”

“Our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.”
