An investigation is underway after what police have described as an “aggravated robbery” at a Christchurch supermarket this morning.
A police spokesperson said police were alerted to the robbery at Countdown, on Moorhouse Avenue at 7.20am, after a man armed with a weapon (not a firearm) entered a staff-only area and stole cigarettes.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
Police were taking statements from witnesses.
A Countdown spokesperson referred all comments to police.
The supermarket is open.
