One person has been taken into custody following a car-jacking robbery incident in central Christchurch this morning.

Police were called at around 6.50am to Cambridge Terrace, after reports of a person’s car being stolen.

The owner of the car was reportedly removed by the offender before they took the car and fled the scene.

Police were able to track the vehicle to Queenspark Drive, Parklands a short time later.

One person was subsequently taken into custody.

Police say enquiries are ongoing and charges are being considered.
