A car has crashed into the Avon River in Avonside tonight.

A police spokesman said they responded to a vehicle crash where a car had gone into the river off Swann’s Road near River Road around 9pm.

The driver made it out of the car and left the scene and was last seen walking through a paddock nearby.

Two Fire and Emergency crews were called to the crash.

 Enquiries are ongoing to locate the man the police spokesman said.
