A brazen daylight car theft in Bromley has left the victim feeling ropable.

The incident happened on Thursday, the 28th of June just after 9AM.

The victim, who Chris Lynch Media has agreed not to name, said as she was reversing out her driveway, she noticed a white car parked on the road.

“I didn’t think much of it at the time.”

The woman then got out of her car to shut the driveway gate. At this point she turned around and saw man from the white car jump into her car and speed off.

“He was very quick. He didn’t speak to me or anything like that. I was ropable, I’ve done this every morning, and I feel like he must have been watching my movements.”

The woman said her car wasn’t of any value, which made the incident strange.

The woman ran to her neighbours, where she phoned her husband who phoned police.

It’s understood the criminal continued his crime spree, assaulting and robbing an elderly woman approximately 45 minutes later.

The elderly woman was injured but expected to be released from the hospital either today or tomorrow.

The daughter of the victim whose car was stolen, spotted the vehicle in Blenheim, several days following the theft.

The offender was apprehended by the authorities on Wednesday, much to her relief.

“It’s made me change the way I do things now, but I’ll get over it.”

A police spokesperson confirmed to Chris Lynch Media that a 46-year-old man was remanded in custody and is due to appear in Blenheim District Court on 7 August.

He faces a range of charges over a period of time from early June, one of which is Unlawfully Taking a Motor Vehicle on 28 June.

One of his charges also from 28 June is a charge of Assault With Intent to Rob the police spokesperson said.
