A cyclist has been taken to Christchurch Hospital following a collision with a car.

A Police spokesperson said a crash involving a car and a cyclist occurred about 7.50am this morning, at the corner of Colombo and Strickland Streets in Sydenham. 

The cyclist appears to have sustained injuries and was transported to hospital.

St John Ambulance responded with one ambulance, a spokesperson said.

One person was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
