Canterbury Police are investigating a number of burglaries from commercial premises overnight, and have apprehended one person.
At 3.30am, police were called to New World on Skyhawk Road in Wigram, after front doors were smashed by offenders using an axe.
Less than an hour later, a store in Chappie Place, Hornby, was broken into.
Ten minutes later, police were alerted to the attempted ram raid of a liquor store on Carmen Road, Hornby.
The offenders failed to gain entry and a fog cannon was activated.
A second attempted ram raid was reported at PB Tech on Main South Road in Hornby at 4.40am.
And at 5am, four offenders used a vehicle to gain entry Noel Lemmings on Moorhouse Ave business.
A break-in was also reported at a business on The Runway in Wigram about 5am, followed by a break-in at a fish and chip shop and neighbouring hair salon on Lillian Street, Halswell, about 6.30am.
Police are working with business owners to establish what has been stolen and are reviewing CCTV footage.
An examination will also be carried out on a vehicle left at the scene of the attempted ram raid on Main South Road.
So far, one person has been apprehended after being seen by a patrol unit jumping a fence on Halswell Road.
The young man was located with items of interest and was taken into custody.
