Armed police have take a person into custody after surrounding a house in Woodend.

Multiple police vehicles were seen, just after 2PM, converging on James Drive.

Earlier, a neighbour told Chris Lynch Media police were refusing to let people near James Drive.

At least 15 Armed Offenders Squad members were near the house. Officers were seen going into properties that back onto the house.

A police spokesman said “there is a heightened police presence around James Drive in Woodend as police execute a search warrant this afternoon.”

There was no threat to the public.

The police spokesman wanted to thank residents for their understanding and cooperation.”
