Cabinet has decided to maintain the mandatory 7-day isolation for COVID-19 cases and the compulsory use of masks for visitors in healthcare settings.

Dr. Verrall announced that the Cabinet is considering the possibility of allowing asymptomatic or mild cases to return to work earlier than the current 7-day isolation period, following further investigation.

The aim is to determine whether a “test to return to work” model could safely and effectively reduce the impact on the workforce this winter. The Cabinet is expected to review advice on this matter within the next two months.

The Health Minister reiterated that isolation remains a crucial measure in managing the spread of COVID-19 and reducing the strain on hospital services.

She also highlighted the importance of face masks in healthcare settings to protect individuals and those more vulnerable to the virus.
