SPCA investigating after beloved pet dog found dead in Christchurch Carpark

The SPCA has launched an investigation following the discovery of a much-loved dog found dead in a carpark in Aranui, Christchurch.

Polar, was found approximately 50 metres off Breezes Road, near the intersection of Breezes and Pages Roads.

According to a post-mortem report, Polar suffered a traumatic injury caused by a sharp object that penetrated his abdomen, resulting in blood loss and his eventual death.

The object in question is estimated to be at least 10cm long and 20mm wide.

The incident was reported to the SPCA by a concerned member of the public earlier this morning.

The organisation is now appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious behavior in the area between 5.30am-7.30am this morning to come forward with information.

Polar was a large adult, white, male crossbreed dog, who was much-loved by his family.

They are understandably devastated by his sudden and violent death the SPCA said.
