Lyttelton Police are hoping the public can help them in their investigation into a crash that killed an 18 year man.

The crash happened last Friday night on Governors Bay Road just to the South West of Te Rapaki o Te Rakiwhakaputa.

Lyttelton Police Sergeant Gerard Peoples said at about 8:30 pm a car travelling from Governors Bay towards Rapaki failed to take a sharp bend and rolled down a bank killing the passenger.

“Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of the crash.”

“As part of the police inquiry I would like to ask any residents that have CCTV cameras that record traffic on Main Road, Governors Bay Road, Park Terrace or Brittan Terrace to please contact the officer in charge of the investigation, Cameron Ellis via e-mail to: [email protected] as any footage of vehicles travelling on those roads around the time of the crash may be relevant to the inquiry.”
