A man has been seriously injured after being stabbed at a residential house in Linwood.

A police spokesman told Chris Lynch Media they received a report at 3.25pm of a person being injured at an address on Norwich Street.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said one ambulance and two rapid response vehicles attended the scene.

“One patient has been taken to Christchurch hospital in a serious condition.”

The man’s son confirmed to Chris Lynch Media his father had been stabbed and was in a serious but stable condition.

The police spokesperson said an investigation is underway and they’re working to understand the circumstances of what has occurred. 

“We would like to speak with anyone who has information that might assist our enquiries.”

Multiple police cars were outside the house, which has been taped off by police.

A resident nearby said a couple lived in the house and there weren’t any issues.
