Two men who died in a motorcycle crash in Timaru were both 21 years of age.

Emergency services were called to Evans Street at 7.45PM on Thursday to the single-vehicle crash.

Tatana Pehi and Jay Ross died at the scene.

In a heartbreaking online message, send to Chris Lynch Media from a family relative, friend Taimana Hemi Gemmell wrote “as most of you know we lost two of our brothers on the 29th of December, in a tragic accident no one saw coming.

Tatana Pehi was a loving son, brother, cousin and friend, but most importantly, a dad, who leaves behind his partner Chloe of 5 years, a fur baby, and their 4-month-old son.”

Hemi Gemmell said Jay Ross was “a beloved brother, a treasured friend, and a precious son.

Jay was the person who walked into a room and left everyone with a smile. He leaves behind his brothers, sisters, and family who are absolutely shattered with this loss.”

Pehi’s cousin told Chris Lynch Media “I always knew him as a go-getter and was just fun to be around.”

It’s understood one of men was not wearing helmets and both weren’t wearing protective gear when the crash occured.
