Two women arrested after police pursuit, hit & run incident in Linwood

Two women have been arrested following a police chase and a hit and run incident in Linwood this morning.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch just after 11.00AM, police signaled a motor vehicle to stop on Stanmore Road.

But the vehicle fled from police and collided with another motorist on the intersection of Stanmore Road and Worcester Street.

The police spokeswoman said the offending vehicle was dumped up a driveway a short distance away and the occupants then fled on foot.

Both the driver and passenger were apprehended by police.

The driver faces several driving charges. The passenger was arrested on unrelated matters.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

“Police would also like to thank the public for their assistance during this incident.”

Witnesses said the offending vehicle had its tyres spiked before it crashed into a truck knocking down a traffic light.
