Armed police have cordoned off a commercial premise in Sydenham.

A police spokesman told Chris Lynch officers executed a search warrant at a Wordsworth Street address last night, but couldn’t comment further.

The unnamed building is one of two properties on the site.

The property agent selling the complex said the front tenants called him this morning to say police were on-site but they didn’t know why.

The police focus appears to be at the rear property.

Police in boiler suits can be seen on the property which is close to Montreal Street.

A small tent has also been erected.

Two armed police officers are guarding the scene and the building has been completely cordoned off.

There’s also several dismantled vehicles on the driveway.

Nearby businesses told Chris Lynch people constantly walked in and out of the premises, and those on-site kept to themselves.

Another business owner said he’s been told the property was a drug house.
