A 36-year-old man is due to appear in court tomorrow after fleeing from a stolen vehicle that later crashed in the Westfield Riccarton car park.
A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com officers sighted the vehicle on Moorhouse Avenue about 7.45am on Friday.
“The vehicle was not signalled to stop, however it is believed the driver sighted Police and fled,” she said.
A short time later, the vehicle was found crashed in the car park on Clarence Street, near Westfield Riccarton. The occupant ran from the scene on foot.
“Cordons were established, and the occupant was located on Dilworth Street a short time later and arrested,” the police spokeswoman said.
The 36-year-old man is facing charges including a range of driving offences, burglary, and receiving stolen property.
