Our Lady of Victories School in Sockburn was placed in lockdown on Wednesday morning after police raised concerns about a man in the area behaving erratically.

In an email sent to parents at 10.09AM, Principal Collette Sandilands said, “We have an evolving situation where the police have asked us to keep all students inside, as there is a person in the local vicinity that they are concerned about who is behaving erratically.

He is not at or near the school. The police are on their way.”

“We are activating our lockdown as a precaution and I will advise as soon as we have been given the all clear by the police.”

“Your children are all safe and staff are trained to respond to these situations.”

A police spokesperson later confirmed the school was no longer in lockdown. The situation involved a man acting disorderly in the area.
