Police investigating the death of Tyrone Munns in Christchurch are appealing for sightings of a vehicle of interest as they continue their homicide investigation.

Munns died on Sunday, 9 March, after he was found critically injured on Innes Road in Mairehau. Despite efforts to save him, he died at the scene.

Detective Senior Sergeant Damon Wells said investigators are now focused on locating a light-coloured people-mover that was in the area at the time of the incident.

“We’re seeking sightings and any information about this vehicle, particularly if you saw it on Innes Road on the night of 9 March,” he said. “We’re also asking any motorists with dashcam footage from that night who travelled along Innes Road to get in touch.”

The vehicle was specifically seen on Innes Road between Philpotts Road and BP Mairehau between 9.15pm and 9.45pm. Police say the vehicle has distinctive features, including different-coloured front and rear wheels.

Detective Senior Sergeant Wells said the investigation team is following a number of lines of inquiry to find those responsible for Mr Munns’ death.

“We urge anyone who saw anything or has any information that could help us to contact Police.”
