Two teachers were assaulted by a student armed with a pair of scissors at Haeata Community Campus in Christchurch on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened just before 2pm and was witnessed by several students and staff.
In a message to parents, Principal Dr Peggy Burrows said, “Unfortunately, today there was an incident at the school where two teachers were assaulted by a student who was holding a pair of scissors.”
“This assault occurred just before 2.00pm and was witnessed by a number of students and staff.
“Please check with your student if you observe any evidence of distress or anxiety and contact the school if they are having difficulty processing what they may have witnessed during this assault.

“We are here to help and support.
“The staff members concerned received medical attention and are recovering well. They will not be at school for the rest of the week.
“If you wish to discuss this matter with me please contact me here at the school, I am happy to support.” Burrows said.
A police spokesperson said “police are making enquiries after a person was injured in Aranui this afternoon.
