A house in Kaiapoi has been destroyed by fire.
Fire and Emergency crews were called to Willock Street at 11:30AM after receiving multiple 111 calls reporting a house on fire.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said two fire trucks from the Kaiapoi Volunteer Fire Brigade were initially dispatched, but the response was quickly escalated, with additional crews from the Woodend Volunteer Fire Brigade and Redwood Fire Station joining the effort.

By the time firefighters arrived, the house was already fully ablaze.
A local resident said it took about two hours for crews to extinguish the fire.
“The house is totally burnt down. The neighbour’s house back wall is also burnt down”
St John was called to the scene and treated two patients people.
