Police are making progress in their investigation after a woman was found critically injured at Richmond Village Green in Christchurch.

Emergency services were called to the park around 9:20 am on Wednesday 5th February, where the woman was discovered with severe injuries.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition but has since stabilised and is now able to speak with investigators.

Detectives have been interviewing witnesses and family members as they work to determine the full circumstances of what happened and identify those responsible.

While police do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the wider public, additional patrols have been deployed in the area to provide reassurance to the community.

Authorities are still appealing for information from anyone who may have seen or heard anything that could assist the investigation.

Information can be provided by calling 105, quoting file number 250205/8067, or online using the ‘Update Report’ function. Anonymous reports can also be made through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
