Police have confirmed that one person has died following a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 73 in Arthur’s Pass this morning.

The crash was reported at around 8:20am near Punchbowl Road. Emergency services responded to the scene, where one person was located deceased.

State Highway 73 remains closed between Arthur’s Pass village and Otira. Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and to avoid the area if possible.

Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
