A motorcyclist has died in a crash on Buchanans Road in Christchurch.

The incident, which involved a truck and a motorcyclist, occurred at approximately 1.40 pm near Hei Hei Road.

Emergency services, including Fire and Emergency crews, police, and St John Ambulance, responded to the scene.

A St John spokesperson said one ambulance and a manager attended the incident.

“Crews were not required for transportation. Please refer all further enquiries to police.”

Buchanans Road is currently closed between both Vanguard Road intersections and the intersection with Hei Hei Road.

A person first at the scene told chrislynchmedia.com they administered CPR, but said the motorcyclist sadly passed away.

Motorists are advised to take an alternate route and expect delays.
