The SPCA has been contacted following disturbing security footage from Rolleston, which shows a man violently hitting and kicking his dog, causing the animal to yelp in pain.

The footage was shared on the Rolleston Facebook Community page.

The incident occurred on Park Lane near Levi Park in Rolleston last night.

The home owner who captured the footage told chrislychmedia.com, she contacted the SPCA with all relevant information.

“I have now got the information I needed to pass on to SPCA, so they can follow up. It wasn’t not a pleasant thing to see on my cameras this morning.”

When contacted late this afternoon, SPCA’s headquarters said they had not yet been informed of the complaint, as it was likely still being processed by their local office.

A spokesperson added that if and when the complaint reaches them, they will “certainly commence an investigation.”

A police spokeswoman said they hadn’t received any report on the incident.
