Police are seeking help from the public after a man was shot four times in the back in a gang related shooting in Invercargill in the weekend.
Around 4:40pm on Saturday, a 19-year-old man presented to Southland Hospital with four gunshot wounds to his back.
He has undergone surgery and remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
Detective Sergeant Mark McCloy said “as part of inquiries, police have today conducted a search warrant at a Tweed Street address where the incident is believed to have occurred.”
A number of items of interest were located, and a Police presence remains at the address.
Police believe the incident could be gang-related, and we are working to speak further with the victim.
“We want to reassure the community that we are hugely focused on ensuring we locate those responsible and hold them to account.”
Since the incident on Saturday, there has been an increased Police presence in the area.
“To assist in our ongoing inquiries, Police are seeking information from the public.”
