Police will be conducting a training exercise at Burnside High School on Greers Road, Christchurch, from Wednesday to Friday (23–25 October).

The exercise will take place between 3pm and 8pm each day, with an increased Police presence in the area.

The training will involve the use of explosives and firearms, and residents may hear loud bangs coming from the venue. To alert the public, an air horn will sound before each loud bang. The activity will be confined to a fenced-off demolition area, with visible Police exercise signs in place.

Authorities have reassured the community that there is no cause for concern, as this is a routine training exercise.

The Police have emphasised the importance of such training to ensure their staff are well-prepared to keep communities safe.

Residents with any queries or concerns are encouraged to contact Police on 105.
