A person has been arrested following a police incident in Mairehau.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to Warrington Street after receiving reports of someone knocking on doors and acting agitated.

The incident occurred shortly after 7pm.

A witness said two people were seen handcuffed and lying on the road.

The police spokeswoman said a 34-year-old was taken into custody and is set to appear in court tomorrow on charges including assaulting and resisting police.
