The Government has appealed a High Court decision which ruled that vaccine mandates for police and NZDF staff were unlawful.

United We Stand lawyers say they’re saddened the government has chosen to challenge the findings.

The appeal will be heard in the Court of Appeal.

No date has been set yet, but it is likely to be in the next three to six months.

Lawyer Matthew Hauge, who represents Police and NZDF who lost their jobs, said “ it is apparent that the High Court decision that her government [Jacinda Ardern] acted unlawfully has caused them considerable damage.”

“Even if successful, the appeal would have no practical effect on NZDF and Police workers.”

“Rather than trying to save face, United We Stand encourages the government to focus their resources on healing the divide that their policies have caused in our community.”
