Diversions are in place on Main North Road, Kaiapoi, following a crash where a car has crashed into a power pole at about 6:20pm.
A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch the lines are down on the road and there are outages in the area.
A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said two ambulances to the scene.
“We have assessed and treated one patient with moderate injuries who will be transported to Christchurch hospital.”
A contractor is at the site working on restoring electricity to the area.
Vehicle goes into Waipara River
Meanwhile, in Amberley, Emergency services remain at the scene of a serious crash, where a vehicle has gone into the Waipara River, off Double Corner Road in Amberley.
The crash occurred at about 5:35pm.
A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said one helicopter responded and three ambulances were called to the scene.
“We assessed and treated two patients, both in a moderate condition transported to Christchurch hospital – one via helicopter and one via ambulance.”
The spokeswoman referred all other inquiries to police.
