Christchurch real estate agent Amanda Blair has sustained serious injuries while on holiday with her partner in Indonesia.
Amanda, who works for Ray White Marshland, was involved in a scooter accident on Friday evening in Lombok, east of Bali. The accident left her with multiple injuries.
Amanda had hired the scooter to go out and buy food when she was thrown from the scooter.
The accident resulted in a head injury, lacerations down the right side of her body, and a punctured lung.
While she was in a stable condition, her partner faced difficulties at the hospital due to a language barrier, her 21-year-old son Bailey said.
Bailey told chrislynchmedia.com that he first learned of the accident when Amanda’s partner called him in a distressed state on Saturday.
Amanda was currently in the intensive care unit at Siloam Hospital in Mataram, where she underwent emergency surgery on Saturday. She was reliant on a breathing pump to assist her with breathing.

The family was waiting for an interpreter to arrive in a couple of days to help with communication at the hospital.
Bailey’s partner, Renee, said the situation has been made more distressing by the fact that their travel insurance refused to cover any expenses since the accident involved a scooter.
With Amanda’s recovery anticipated to be prolonged, hospital bills have already exceeded $18,000.
“We all feel so helpless since we can’t be there with her, but we believe we have an amazing community behind us that can help,” Renee said.
Amanda’s sister, Ashley, who has started a Give a Little page, said told chrislynchmedia.com Amanda was really looking forward to the holiday before returning to her real estate business.
“She really deserved it. She does so much for so many people, it was time for her to do something nice for herself.
“It was supposed to be a decent break away, but it’s turned into something just horrible.”
