A Christchurch man has suffered facial injuries after he was allegedly attacked with an axe in a road rage incident early Saturday morning.
The man, which Chris Lynch Media has declined to name, said the attack occurred at the intersection of Ensors and Ferry Road at 12.30am.
It happened after the man tooted his horn at a car in front of him using the left turning lane on Manchester Street near Moorhouse Avenue.
He said the offenders followed him in their car and a short time later, they yelled at him and his friend to get out of the car.
They were both attacked by the offenders, one of whom allegedly used an axe.
The victim said three offenders were arrested a short time later.
A St John Ambulance spokeswoman told Chris Lynch emergency services were called at 12:30am on Saturday to the incident on Ensors Road.
She said one ambulance and one manager responded to the scene.
She said St John treated one patient in a moderate condition and transported them to Christchurch hospital.
Canterbury police won’t comment citing privacy reasons for the victim.
