A number of South Island Roads are closed due to snow and Ice.
NZTA has closed SH6 Ross to Fox Glacier, SH8 Twizel to Fairlie, SH73 Springfield to Castle Hill (Porters Pass), SH79 Fairlie – SH8 to Gudex Rd, SH80 Lake Pukaki to Mount Cook.
A heavy snow watch from Metservice remains in place for North Canterbury high country and the foothills north of the Rangitata River

“Prepare for snow, cold temperatures, and possible power outages. If you must travel, drive cautiously, and ensure you have snow chains, sleeping bags, warm clothing, and emergency items,” MetService said.
